Homemade, Reusable Snack Bags & Tutorial

Isn’t that bag cute? This is my new most favorite way to snack! This bag is reusable (even more so than ziplocs) and easily can be washed with a load of clothes and used again! This is my new favorite way to tote nuts, dehydrated fruit, and snack crackers with me!

I am going to attempt to give a tutorial of how to make these cute “green” bags:

Cut out two identical rectangles slightly larger than the final size you would like your bag to be. This rectangle will be folded in half, so be sure to account for that when you choose the size of your rectangle. Put the two pieces right side together and stitch around the outside. Make sure to leave a small opening to turn the fabric right side out.

Snip the corners at a 45 degree angle to help the fabric lay flat when turned right side out.

Flip the fabric inside out and iron the seams flat. Where your opening was, fold the fabric in and iron.

Cut velcro and pin to either end of the ironed fabric. Make sure that the velcro is positioned so that you will sew over your former opening while sewing around the velcro.

Sew around the velcro on both ends.

Fold the bag in half, match the velcro, iron, and pin.

Sew from the top to the bottom on both sides of the bag.

Repeat over and over because it’s so much fun and you’ve found a million uses for these bags!

I love this! I’ve seen many tutorials for reusable snack bags, but this is by far the simplest. Thanks for sharing; I’m looking forward to making a bunch of these in the near future!

I have never used a sewing machine before but I think this will probably be the inspiration for my first project. I’m excited!
