Yesterday I wrote about my green smoothie. So, I thought I would share my method with you today.
I LOVE green smoothies! They can look disgusting or they can be beautiful depending on what you put in them. But they taste amazing and I love the energy and the endurance they give me in a day!
Making green smoothies is not a science at all: combine greens with other stuff, blend, and drink.
I always want my smoothies to be super filling, so I start with a yogurt base. The yogurt will help your gut to maintain it’s good digestive health and will make a smoothie much more filling.

Then I add handfuls of spinach. I blend this together first. Someday, I would like to have this blender, but for now I have a blender that works and I will wait until that is no longer the case to buy a good blender. But, with a normal blender, it needs time to get everything (leaves are tricky) blended enough for me to drink. While I get the other ingredients ready, I let it get started with those leaves and yogurt.
Then, I add anything and everything else that sound good in my smoothie. Things I have added include: stawberries, pineapple (super sweet!), bananas (make it smooth and creamy!), flax seed, cod liver oil, coconut oil, carrot juice, sprouts, peaches, and applesauce. My friend Staci gets her kids involved and they think of other great things to add to their smoothies!
Spinach, my favorite green to use, has almost no noticeable flavor when blended. Some other greens have a little more flavor to them, you just have to experiment until you find what you like best.

Now, blend until the consistency is just the way you like it and drink it down! As you do, think of all the healthy nutrients that you are feeding your body to get it ready for the day ahead!!!

I’m glad you said that spinach doesn’t have much of a taste. I’d not have even thought about trying this otherwise– now I’m looking forward to getting a blender so I can make these! Do you have them for breakfast? lunch?
I usually just have them for breakfast. But, if I have recently been sick (this tends to happen frequently, I have a very sensitive digestive system!) and I know that my gut needs repair done, I will have this two or more times a day!
Your link reminded me of all the “Will it Blend” Blendtek videos on YouTube. “iSmoke. Don’t breathe this.” That’s a great idea to get in more healthy stuff – we’re trying to rework our daily schedule to have more time, and maybe I’ll eventually be able to work in (green) smoothies to our morning routine!
