Remaining Encouraged, Optimistic, and Content

When I asked you, my lovely readers, for ideas of things that you would like to see on Simple Bliss in 2010 I recieived a request to write about how I remain encouraged and optimistic during the tough times in which we are living. What a great idea for a blog series!

While I am definitely not always encouraged, optimistic, and content it is certainly something that I feel is very important and a goal towards which I strive.

I would be completely amiss if I shared several posts of practical ideas for maintaining optimism without saying that the most important way to remain encouraged, optimistic, and content is to rest completely in God’s arms! I know that my life is completely in HIS hands. He has a plan for my life and for the life of our family. He has a good and perfect plan and I must rest completely in that understanding.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.” Jeremiah 1:8-9

God has commanded that I be strong and courageous. Not because of anything that I can do but because he will be with me wherever I go and through whatever may happen.

By focusing on his word and the truth that can be found there I remember who holds the entire universe. I remember that the same God who can hold the universe also guides and protects little me.

Stay tuned for more thoughts on remaining encouraged, optimistic, and content…
