A few days ago a friend of mine asked on facebook if the last decade seemed to fly by for anybody else. My first thought was that “yes, it did fly by.” But then I go to thinking about where I was ten years ago and where I am today and realized that I just completed a very busy decade!
You see, ten years ago I was thirteen. Since the 1999/2000 year change so much has happened:
- I finished middle school
- I started high school
- I moved from Ohio to Kansas and started at a new school
- I graduated from high school
- I worked as a secretary
- I started college
- I moved out on my own for the first time
- I worked as a nanny for a summer
- I worked as an office assistant
- I worked for the Boys and Girls Club doing (early!) before school programs
- I worked as a tutor
- I taught the 3/4 year old MOPS class
- I was a junior high school girls youth sponsor, went on several trips, and worked for the church one summer
- I met, got engaged to, and married my husband
- I moved to Kansas City
- I transferred colleges
- I worked as a part time babysitter
- I worked as a research assistant at KU
- We bought our first house
- I graduated from college
- I finished most of a Master’s degree
- I got my first teaching job
It’s weird to think that all of those things happened within a ten year span. Yes the decade flew by, and man, was it an adventure. Here’s hoping that the next ten years are just as full of adventures!
