I have received several emails asking how I manage to get “everything” done. These questions remind me of just how little of a person’s life we get to see on a blog. While I generally try to have fresh homemade food prepared for us to enjoy, to keep my home clean, our clothes washed, and our life simple there is no way to do that all of the time. So, let me share some pictures of my house tonight and some stories from my week this week, lest anybody think that I am a perfect homemaker…
Let’s start with laundry. There is laundry in my basement that was washed two days ago that I have yet to carry upstairs and put away. Speaking of laundry, when we got home from our weekend out of town I did a whole lot of laundry. One of those loads was forgotten about and allowed to sit WET for 36 hours! Eesh!

That’s our bed. Ugh. The sheets need washed. The bed is not made (and hasn’t been since we crawled into it on Monday night). There are tissues all over my bedside table as I have a sinus/upper respiratory infection. And while not in the picture, I should also tell you that my dirty jammies are laying on the floor!

That’s the bathmat still on the floor because, well, nobody had time this morning to pick it up. It’s not very obvious in the picture, but the shower is in need of a good elbow grease scrub – stupid soap scum!

Yea, recognize that family room? No? We’re in the middle of selling our upstairs tv and it’s accessories and setting up our new aquarium. There is our project – making a mess on the floor!

“Those dishes are clean!” Yes they are. I just washed them after they had been allowed to build up on the side of the sink for three days! I just didn’t make it to getting the dishes washed.

The recycling bin is full of paper and cardboard is stacking up along side of it. That paint all needs taken to the hazardous waste plant; it has needed to be taken there for several weeks. Again, I haven’t gotten around to it.
AND….I can’t find my small camera anywhere!
We had grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup on the menu plan for dinner tonight. Did anybody think to bake bread? Anybody? Anybody? That’s what I thought….no bread for sandwiches.
I hope you enjoyed this “tour” of my home after a long week! I assure you – it will be getting a good cleaning this weekend!

Vanessa,
I LOVED this post!! Thank you for sharing it with us…I am even more thrilled to know you aren’t ALWAYS perfect.
Your house in it’s messy state still looks 100x better than mine! It’s hard when you’re busy, isn’t it?!?
I hope you feel better soon!
I agree with Morgan but am thankful that you are somewhat normal….ha. Just wait
I do like your post though. Fun to see that things don’t always get done for others too.
