Basic Roll Recipe

After writing this post, I have had several people ask for the recipe that I use when making dinner rolls. Here’s what I do:

2 1/4 t. yeast
1/4 c. warm water
3/4 c. lukewarm milk
1/4 c. sugar
1 t. salt
a egg
1/4 c. butter, softened
3 1/2 – 3 3/4 c. flour

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in milk, sugar, salt, egg, butter and two cups of flour. Beat until smooth. Mix enough of remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.

Turn dough onto a slightly floured board; knead for five minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl and turn greasy side up. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled; 1 1/2 – 2 hours.

Punch down dough; and form into rolls. Let rise 20 minutes. Bake in oven for 15 to 20 minutes at 400 degrees.

Enjoy!

Hi! I am not an accomplished baker, but I’ve been trying for a little over a year now to do better at it. I just made some excellent rolls, but I want to try yours as well. The recipe states milk in the ‘how to’ but it’s not in the list, help me out here. Thanks :) Nice blog too!
