This is a question that I have been asked several times this summer. People, knowing that I cannot stand to sit around and be lazy, wonder how in the world I will keep myself busy and not go crazy with a whole summer during which I am not working or taking classes.
I am going to try to document what I “do all day” a few times this summer to allow people a glimpse as to how a wife to one and mother to none can keep herself completely busy for weeks at a time.
I am spending this summer trying out new ways to do things around our house, taking care of our house, finishing craft and decorating projects, stocking our freezer (I intend for it to be full of breads, meals, stocks, crackers, etc when I go back to teaching on August 7th), and preparing for my first year as a teacher.
As I go through my day I will be listing what I did. Here is my day: June 17, 2009:
7:00 – 7:30
– woke up
– made Cole’s lunch
– talked about plans for the day and car care plans together
– posted a blog post that I wrote the day before
– started the dishwasher (whoops! forgot that last night)
7:30 – 8:00
– started a chicken in the crock pot (shredded chicken and broth being the end results)
– composed the beginning of this post
– read e-mails
– moved the plants away from the house (where they were protected from the storm) and out into the sunshine
– fill up water bottle – yay for water!
8:00 – 8:45
– quiet time: worship music, scripture, prayer
8:45 – 9:30
– wash out bins and crates for classroom
– wash legos
– wash gerbil cage and supplies
(whew! I did not expect these tasks to take so long!)
9:30 – 10:00
– shower and get ready
– make the bed
10:00 – 10:30
– read “Sacred Marriage”
– munch on grapes
– take vitamin
10:30 – 11:00
– iron clothes
11:00 – 11:30
– finish preparing classroom supplies order
– send final order to principal
11:30 – 1:30
– work on preparations for classroom (specifics would probably just be boring to read; you’ll see the results when my classroom is set up)
1:30 – 2:30
– go to the library
– go to wal-mart
– get the mail
2:30 – 3:30
– remove chicken meat from chicken
– start chicken broth
– refill water bottle
– empty dishwasher
3:30 – 4:30
– work on preparations for classroom (specifics would probably just be boring to read; you’ll see the results when my classroom is set up)
4:30 – 5:00
– dinner preparations
– make dessert
– strain chicken broth and prepare for freezing
5:00 – Bedtime
Spent time with my hubby!
Hope you also enjoyed your Wednesday!

Your day defiantly sounds full!
I just have to laugh at people who ask that question. They obviously are not in tune with their household or the needs thereof. I like to reply with humor and say that I watch alot of TV and eat candy… but mostly it is running after kids, cleaning, doing things for hubby, cleaning some more…. and cooking/baking. I always enjoyed the quiet time I got when I sat to nurse the baby. Too bad they are all grown now.
