Chicken Delicious

Chicken Delicious

6 boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into thirds
2-3 tablespoons lemon juice
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of celery soup
1/3 cup white wine
Grated parmesan cheese
Egg noodles

Season chicken with lemon juice and pepper (do not salt the chicken because the soup will be salty enough!!) Place the chicken in the slow cooker.

In a medium bowl, mix the soups with the white wine. Pour the mixture over your chicken breasts. Sprinkle generously with parmesan cheese.

Cover and cook on low for five hours. Serve the chicken over egg noodles.

How can this recipe be msg free if you use can soup mixes. I was under the impression that they are a huge source of msg??? Am I wrong?

This recipe contains parmesan cheese? isnt that very high in MSG?

    • Vanessa says:

The kind of cheese we buy does not list any ingredients that are known to be MSG. This recipe does not cause me headaches, so I take that to be a pretty good sign that it does not have MSG.

From the research I’ve been seeing, Parmesan is naturally high in msg. It’s one of the top items to avoid if you want to eliminate msg (along with soy sauce)

Yes, Parmesan cheese does have a high amount of naturally occurring free glutamate. I try not to eat very much Parmesan cheese. However, I have yet to find an excellent replacement for it so I occasionally make meals with Parmesan and am very careful not to eat any MSG in the days before or after to keep from having a severe reaction. This is still something that I am looking into.
