29 Things :: Number 10 & Works for Me Wednesday

10. Use only natural cleaners for cleaning the house.

Using natural cleaners in my house is another simple way to be a good steward of the earth. However, I can’t stand the smell of vinegar for cleaning – it’s just too strong for me. However, href=”http://www.clorox.com/products/overview.php?prod_id=gw”>Green Clean has proven to work very well to meet my cleaning needs and is much better for our family’s health (not perfect, but much better)!

I use either the all-purpose or glass and surface cleaner to clean most surfaces in my house wonderfully! And it leaves a yummy scent behind – even my husband notices the fantastic scent. I use the bathroom cleaner on the glass door of our shower and it works beautifully to remove that stubborn soap scum.

I use these same cleaners to clean surfaces all over my house. I love that I now have very few cleaners for my home – it sure makes cleaning so much simpler!

Another way that we try to be good stewards of God’s earth is by using very few paper towels. I knitted these two cleaning cloths to use when cleaning the surfaces of my house and love using them. They were quick and easy to knit up using some of my favorite yarn in the world.

It’s just another simple way to be a good steward of the earth and it works for me!

I love Method cleaners from Target, and other places. They now have all natural laundry detergent, which we’ll be using at our next laundering… 64 loads out of a bottle the size of a 32! And I know I love the dish soap, and hand soap, and cleaners… :)

  2. I’m still playing around with which products I like to clean with the best, but my question for you is, does that product really disinfect, like in the bathroom?

  3. I’m glad I’m not the only one who finds vinegar an objectionable-smelling cleaner! Yuck. I’ve been really happy with the 7th Generation cleaners — the whole line is supposedly gluten-free. :)

Do you have a pattern for the knitted cleaning cloth? And what type of yarn do you use? I think it’s a great idea and I love to knit!

Michele, I use Sugar n Cream yarn – it’s pretty cheap, really soft, and can be picked up at Wal-Mart or Hobby Lobby. I just use a basic knit stitch and go until the cloth is the size that I want. I have a few that are large for washing dishes and a few that are smaller for cleaning the counters.

Hope you enjoy this project as much as I do!
