Frugal Friday :: My Price Book

It’s Frugal Friday at Biblical Womanhood!

One thing that has really helped to save us large amounts of money is the price book that I keep.

In my homemaking notebook I have a section devoted to price sheets. I have a large excel document that lists food items that we frequently purchase and their prices at Aldi, Wal-Mart, Price Chopper (local grocery store), The Merc (natural food market in a nearby town), and Costco.

When I look at grocery ads during the week, I can compare the “deals” that grocery stores are running to the lowest price at which I can always purchase the item. This allows me to determine how good the advertised “deal” really is and the item should become a part of my stockpile of food goods.

I also have a price sheet that compares the prices of name brand toiletry and home cleaning items at various stores so that I can determine good deals using coupons and store incentives (ex. CVS extra care bucks or Walgreens register rewards).

While my method is far from perfect, I have found it to be a fantastic tool for bargain shopping!

Such a great idea. ;) I have a price sheet, I don’t do the comparing, however, I just write down which store I know has the best price for what items. I’ve got it memorized now. Where to go for what. lol!
    Great post. Thanks for sharing!

Good for you Vanessa! As you probably already know from my blog, I always preach to people about keeping a price book, and mine is almost exactly like yours. The only thing I hate is having to update it all the time, because food prices keeping going up every week!
