Here is my list, created one year ago, of 28 things that I desired to complete in the year 2008. Most of them were able to be completed!
) Study the Bible: Prayers of Ascent, Proverbs 31, 1 & 2 Corinthians, James, Genesis, and Exodus.
) Read through the entire Bible.
) Read these Christian books: The Christian’s Secret of a Happy Life, The Pilgrim’s Progress, The Practice of the Presence of God, Chasing Daylight, Dangerous Wonder, Don’t Waste Your Life, The Barbarian Way, Mere Christianity, and The Worn Out Woman.
) Work through these devotional books: Running Nowhere in Every Direction, and Woman to Woman Wisdom.
) Read these fiction and “teacher” books: Odd Girl Out,The Excellent Eleven, As Sure as the Dawn, and A Light in the Window.
) Create a list of fifty meals that I make for our family.
) Attend 8 ladies craft nights at church.
) Make/finish a quilt.
) Make three skirts with matching headbands. — I only made two.
) Develop a system to use for couponing.
) Be able to complete an “advanced” Pilates workout. In all honesty, I must admit that while I can complete it, I cannot complete it gracefully like they do on the videos.
) Purchase a new journal and start writing regularly, again.
) Learn how to make cheesecake. Make three different kinds. – I was bad about this one, aside from boxed mixes this is a failed goal.
) Catch up on scrapbooking before the wedding. Stay up-to-date on scrapbooking.
) Finish the basement.
) Raise an herb garden. Plant in pots on deck so I can use fresh herbs when cooking.
) Make a reusable shopping bag. Cover old initials on bags with a new pattern.
) Create a complete prayer list and use it regularly.
) Learn 10 new crock-pot recipes.
) Learn 5 once-a-month cooking recipes.
) Read at least three books out loud to Cole. – We tried this but it just didn’t work; it doesn’t facilitate comprehension very well for either of us.
) Create my own Christmas storybook with the full biblical story.
) Meet with a doctor in Gardner about my migraines. Find a regimen that works well to decrease frequency and intensity. Find a working treatment for when they occur.
) Practice braiding my hair; be able to make an even braid.
) Learn to use well and use regularly: Nave’s Topical Bible, Bible Commentary, Bible Concordance, Dictionary of the Bible.
) Learn how to knit a winter hat. Knit one for Cole.
) Learn how to make three different kinds of pies.
) Practice taking pictures. Work on photographing people, nature, and objects.
I’m satisfied.
This year proved to be a year of abundant blessing. I am looking forward with eager expectation to see what God will do in our lives in 2009!
