With the addition of the island, I was finally able to move things around in the kitchen. I planned specifically so that the items that I use most often would be located in the places that made the most sense. So mixing bowls, pyrex bakeware, silicone bakeware, and measuring cups and spoons are all within reach of the oven. Silverware is near the table, etc. It’s wonderful!
We have so many gadgets! But, we actually do use them all…I love being in the kitchen and using all of the tools that go with it.

Vanessa,
Your kitchen looks wonderful!! I love the red and black – of course that will go splendidly with your cherries and your new island. Is your counter top supposed to be in this week for your island?? The pictures will be amazing! Where did you and DH get your place settings/plates, if you don’t mind me asking? Or were they all given as wedding gifts? I need to get us some new daily plates – all we have are the fancier style that we got as wedding gifts.
Most of our dishes are Fiesta Ware (http://www.amazon.com/Fiestaware-Kitchen-Housewares/b?ie=UTF8&node=598204). They are wonderful dishes! My parents bought them when I was in high school and they have broken very few since then (with three sons and two daughters ages 5 to 22 — that’s amazing!) We have had one plate break on us but that was a dishwasher crashing incident. It’s sturdy stuff, has so many beautiful colors, and they have so many fun bowl, platters, etc that match. Your collection can be ever growing! I love my Fiesta Ware!
