The first area of the house to experience a turnaround was the master bedroom and bathroom.

Tasks Completed:
– wash all bedding
– dust all surfaces
– dust fan
– flip mattress
– vacuum
– vacuum floorboards
– dust blinds
– clean out bookcase
– minimized the clothes we have in the closet. All clothes fit well and are worn regularly.

I’ve been looking at other people’s closet minimization projects online (here and here the July 14th entry) the past few weeks and I have many more clothes in my closet than they did when they were done. However, since I teach full time and am a “regular person” full time I need two different wardrobes. And, we don’t switch wardrobes at the season – this is what I wear all year round!
– I also cleaned out the drawers of socks, undergarments, and sweaters in our bedroom.

Then I attacked the bathroom. Tasks completed:
– dust blinds
– clean shelf over the toilet
– clean the shower and doors
– clean the toilet
– clean counters and mirror
– clean out vanity cupboards
– wash rugs
– clean the floor (we had some dark areas from where there were stickers when the floor was installed last summer; I got them all cleaned up too!)
– sweep floor

– vacuum organizer pockets. We use this shoe organizer behind the bathroom door to store all of the “things” that we use in the bathroom. It had collected a lot of hair and dust and is much cleaner now!

Looks awesome Vanessa! I am continually trying to simplify our apartment. Its always a battle to keep everything organized (for us).
WOW! Vanessa, you have done an awesome job so far!! You and your DH do such a wonderful job at living simply. My DH and I need to take lessons from you. I truly do love the hanging organizer pockets behind the bathroom door. I will have to do this at our new master bathroom – that way things are not cluttering the countertops.
So I know we need to weed out things so we move less stuff, but wow, you make me feel like even more of a pack rat…. so don’t apologize for your closet having as much “stuff” as it does! lol! And pending room in our new apartment bathroom, we might also be stealing your shoe pocket door hanger idea too…
YOU INSPIRE ME!
